A 3/4" wide scraper profiled for cutting the mortise on turned lidded boxes. Made in M2 high speed steel, the corners are softened and the top is flattened to accept fine burrs.
One of the most critical parts of a long-grain lidded box is the mortise shoulder (usually in the lid). I have taken a flat 3/4" wide scraper and converted it to my preference for cutting this mortise area. It is used first in a flat fashion, then elevated to shear scrape this area (not an area that is sanded).
