The Oneway Talon Chuck is an excellent choice for smaller lathes. The threaded insert is included! Includes the heavy duty worm type screw for chucking into a drilled hole.
One of the most compact and precise chucks on the market. If you have a mini or midi type lathe or just intend to do smaller work, this is the chuck. It weighs only 3.5 lbs. and is 3.5" in diameter. The #2 Jaws included with the chuck have a compressing range of 1 5/8" to 2 7/8". Several features make this an excellent chuck: chuck key to open/close the jaws (rather than two bars), a threaded insert that allows easy change from one lathe of a different thread size to another and the serrated jaws (give outstanding holding power). Unlike some Talon Chucks priced in catalogues, the threaded insert for your lathe is included in the price. Be sure to choose the correct thread for your machine. Oneway Talon Chuck is the way to go!
Mechanics are perfect: Runs perfectly true, the #1 spigot jaws that I also ordered are holding tenons even though the jaws are not profiled for this set. Only issue is cosmetic. Body of chuck between two of base jaws has very slight wear marks -- perhaps like the chuck might have been on display. Certainly doesn't affect the operation. Speical sale price was super.
