Reverse chucking jig for completing the lower portion and bottom of bowls and vessels. Often referred to as a compression or friction type chuck. Work is trapped soundly between the jig and the tailstock center. Also useful for re-turning the tenon of a roughed out bowl or vessel to remount into a scroll type chuck. Works equally well on natural edged bowls and flat rimmed bowls. A smaller head is now available in 1 3/4" for small bowls or hollowing turning.
A system that is both highly secure and variable for a wide spectrum of reverse chucking operations on bowls and vessels. Once the inside and most of the outside of such turned objects are completed, the turner needs a system for completing the lower fourth and the bottom region of the piece. That process is referred to as "reverse chucking." This system traps the work between the jig and the tailstock center. The length of the rod (made from drill rod material) can be modified for deeper pieces, while the head can be replaced with a smaller or larger diameter head to accomodate a variety of sizes. The head that comes with this jig works well on open bowl forms between approximately 5" up to 12" in diameter. The headstock side of the jig comes in a #2 Morse taper. Instructions are included as well as two extra rubber discs for replacement purposes (I often can do 25 to 30 bowls before replacing the rubber discs). Also useful for re-turning the tenon of a roughed turned bowl or vessel to remount into a scroll type chuck.  Now available:  a 1 3/4" smaller head for small bowls or hollowing turning.
