Metal parts for creating your own awl.  Great for layout in woodturning and woodworking in general as well as other crafts such as leather work.

Made from O1 steel, I personally shape and heattreat each shaft to make an awl.  The diameter is 1/4" down to the tapered point, with an overall length of about 3.75".   Also included is a flare nut with a 1/4" hole to serve as the ferrule.  You can leave this with the flats, but I believe it looks much better with flats turned away to produce a tapered brass look to the ferrule.   Check out other  examples of Alan's awls in the "Gallery" section of www.alanlacer.com
